Mercedes Benz will be launching the seventh-generation model of their popular S-Class series soon. Even before its launch, the Automobili has stunned everyone by unveiling the model’s uber-luxurious interiors and high-tech features.
Last month, they revealed that the car will be equipped with second-generation ‘My MBUX (Mercedes Benz User Experience)’. It will feature five large screens OLED screens, 3D driver display, voice assistant, fingerprint, face and voice recognition, and new biometric security system.
“Our S-Class customers are highly discerning. With the new S-Class, we invite them into a completely new luxury experience. It is underscored by our ‘Sensual Purity’ design philosophy and our absolute commitment to quality and attention to detail. The result is a revolutionary interior experience caught between digital and analogue luxury,” said Hartmut Sinkwitz, Head of Interior Design.
The design takes cues from interior architecture and yacht design elements. It offers a ‘lounge-like’ ambience with open-pore wood veneers and real aluminium inlays. The entire dashboard blends with the body of the front trim section. There are contrasting elements, visually soft leather versus hard surfaces like piano lacquer and generous size of the dashboard versus stringent surfaces of the displays.
The 12.8-inch central display is positioned on the dashboard in a free-floating placement. There is an LED at a distance of every 6 inches in the fibre optics, making a total of 250 LEDs. Thanks to the advance technology, the lights can automatically switch between daytime and night-time mode depending on the ambient brightness. Additional features include Alert reinforcement, integration into driving assistance systems, red light animation i.e. lane-keeping assist and brake assist and exit warning. You can even set the climate control system to colder or warmer in individual zones.
There are five programs to choose from; Refresh, Vitality, Warmth, Joy, Comfort. These programmes will change the ambient lights and soundscapes according to your mood. Say ‘Hey Mercedes’ to initiate your voice assistant. Let Mercedes know that you are stressed by saying,” I am stressed” and watch it turn the Joy programme on.

Moreover, as a driver, you can enter your height in MBUX or tell your height to the MBUX’s voice assistant and the ADAPT will calculate the optimal driving position for the specified height and will adjust your seat, steering wheel and side mirrors accordingly. The seats are equipped with ‘ENERGIZING seat kinetics’ system. It helps you by making orthopedically beneficial changes in the seating posture by means of minute changes in the inclination of the seat cushions and backrest. The seat cushion has neck warmers and can provide you with a relaxing massage too.
Also, the ‘ENERGIZING Coach’ feature can suggest you a fitness or wellness programmes based on the vehicle and trip data. It can also factor in information about sleep quality and stress level into the algorithm if the driver has a compatible device like a smartphone or digital bracelet.
The new model comes with its own special S-Class fragrance.
