The Lal Bagh Palace is a lavish monument built by the Holkar Dynasty in the 19th century. This monument stands as a museum now. The main gates are a replica of the Buckingham Palace. In fact, these were shipped from England. There is a rose garden surrounding the place. The interiors have Italian marble columns, chandeliers, Persian carpets and carvings. The royal ballroom is must-see. Georgian style furniture and paintings from India and Italy will keep you hooked.

Rajwada Palace

Rajwada is located on the busy streets of Khajuri Bazaar. It served as the residence of the Holkar Dynasty back in 1747. It was restored by Indore’s current royal family in 2006 and was opened for public viewing. The architecture combines Maratha, Mughal and French styles. Currently, the palace is closed for renovation.

Indore is popular for its food, especially namkeen. Close to Rajwada Place is Sarafa Bazaar, a street where jewellery is sold during the day. And as night approaches, the lanes (Bada and Chota) turn into a street food market.
Nearby, Pipli Bazaar on Bada Sarafa lane has several food stores. Some of the must-try dishes are Khopra Pattis and Batata Kachori at the renowned Vijay Chaat House.

This trekking spot is the perfect monsoon getaway. It is located around 34.9 km away from Indore. Lush green landscape, hills and great weather make this place an ideal picnic spot.
