For the first time in the past nine years since its inception, the annual Forevermark Forum was hosted virtually. Keeping with the current norms, the diamond brand Forevermark from the De Beers Group, sent a very digital-friendly hologram invite for the event and went on to create an engaging platform for jewellery insiders and industry leaders. In a special appearance, actor, singer, screenwriter and director Farhan Akhtar, too, joined the forum with an enthralling live music performance.
The virtual event which brought diamantaires, jewellers and manufacturers from 37 countries together, focused on the key theme of ‘Meaningful Tomorrows’.
The Forevermark Forum highlighted the newest retail innovations and current technologies, along with some significant consumer insights to help its authorised partners to optimise business and keep updated with the trends in these unprecedented times.
“The Forum’s theme, Meaningful Tomorrows, is particularly relevant in the current environment, where the pandemic has reinforced the importance of our personal relationships and the role diamonds can play as we all look forward to a brighter tomorrow,” said Stephen Lussier, Forevermark Chairman and Executive VP, Consumer and Brands, De Beers Group.
An in-depth report by the diamond brand revealed consumer sentiments in relation to the spending patterns for luxury jewellery in today’s time. It stated that diamonds continue to have a strong hold albeit the cautious spending observed in the last few months. One of the reasons behind this is the cultural and traditional aspect, wherein the Indian luxury buyers tend to prioritise diamonds to gift or self-gift during festivals and special occasions.
The report indictated that people are adjusting to the new normal and that the jewellery market is improving. Not to forget, e-commerce consumption is at a record high, which makes Forevermark’s e-tail presence all the more significant.
Sachin Jain, Managing Director, De Beers India said in a statement, “Going virtual is not just by chance but by choice as well. The digital disruption is paving the way for new options to interact with our consumers and develop products that match their sensibilities.” said Sachin Jain, Managing Director, De Beers India.
As part of the forum, Forevermark also highlighted its retail projects, such as the Exceptional Diamond collection of exquisite diamonds of three carats and more) as well as the Red Carpet collection which features unique jewellery created by their partner jewellers which are worn by international celebrities for events such as theAcademy Awards and the Golden Globes.
The Forevermark Forum also facilitated a special Knowledge Series, including a great lineup of speakers: Randi Zuckerberg, Founder of Zuckerberg Media; Deep Kalra, Founder of MakeMyTrip; and Sonam Wangchuk, Engineer, Innovator and Education Reformist.
