Founder and Creative Director, Janavi India While India Accent in Delhi and Maison Estelle, London are Jhalani’s favourite places to savour a meal, her journey in the creative realm started in 1998 when she founded Janavi India which is an ode to luxurious cashmere rooted in Indian craftsmanship. She started creative storytelling on cashmere canvases and embellished them with embroidery to create never seen before shawls and scarves. A tribute to her early childhood home in Kashmir, the skilled cashmere artisans of Kashmir and Jhalani have brought to India a renaissance of the handicraft. When it comes to design, Jhalani takes inspiration from life and colour to create designs. Being an avid lover of emeralds, her most prized jewellery pieces are three strands of Columbian emerald cabochon strands with diamonds that she purchase from The Gem Palace. When it’s time to unwind, Jhalani enjoys a glass of G&T with a dash of lime, a trip to Suryagarh Hotel in Jaisalmer or a quick getaway to Kashmir. But she also enjoys the Tuscan hills and the beaches of Maldives. “When I am at my creative space which is my atelier and my factory I feel I am in the lap of luxury, lost in my own world.” Jyotika Jhalani Founder Rezon Silverware, Lulu and Sky, Former VP, Christian Dior Couture India Delhi- based Kalyani Saha Chawla is well-known for being Dior’s marketing and communications Vice President in India for over a decade. Chawla has been in fashion for most of her life. Having helmed Dior’s business in India for over a decade, Kalyani’s immense experience in fashion drives her daily. She was also named Dior’s brand ambassador in 2006, when the brand opened its first store in Delhi. Chawla launched her leather goods exporting company in Delhi in the late 1990s. Chawla eventually secured orders from the likes of Jimmy Choo, Zara and Harrods. A chance encounter with general manager of LVMH in West Asia and India later, Chawla was approached by Dior to act as a brand ambassador. Leaving her post at Dior in 2016, Chawla launched her e-commerce fashion platform, Lulu and Sky with business partner Tina Antoniades. Three years ago, she founded Rezon Silverware, aimed at the discerning Indian luxury clientele along with the international market. Chawla values time above all, as a result of her Kalyani Saha Chawla busy schedule. A few things you can always find in her bag are ... “a wallet without cash, definitely credit cards, 100% my mobile and my daughter’s picture.” Setting the bar high when it comes to fashion she shared, “I am not much of a diamond person, I love costume jewellery which I think is far more glamorous. The most memorable piece of jewellery is my great grandmother’s long gold chain, it reaches my toes. You can just wrap it around your neck in any length that you want. It’s super glamorous, so simple in its elegance.” “I inspire myself. I set the goal post really high and I try to achieve it. I am ambitious and I work really hard.” 26 | | 27
