Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Chairperson of HCL Technologies, is the wealthiest woman in India, as per Kotak Wealth Hurun – Leading Wealthy Women report. Her total wealth is Rs54,850 crore.
The report is a compilation of the 100 wealthiest women in India. The listing is based on the net worth of women as on 30th September 2020. The 2020 edition of the report focuses exclusively on women who play an active role in their family businesses, or are entrepreneurs and professionals.
The second edition of the report, which was released today, lists Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw with a wealth of Rs36,600 crore and Leena Gandhi Tewari of USV with a wealth of Rs21,340 crore as second and third richest in India.
“The National Institute of Transforming India states that in India, only 24% of women are in the workforce, compared to a global standard of 48%. It is rather obvious that only if gender parity is achieved, can India timely register the $5 trillion GDP mark. Women-led businesses are the no.1 harbinger to achieve inclusion in the workforce,” states Anas Rahman Junaid MD and Chief Researcher Hurun India.

The report estimates that the cumulative wealth of women wealth creators on the list is Rs2,72,540 crore. The average age of women featuring on the list is 53 years, with 19 women under the age of 40.
32 years olds Kanika Tekriwal of JetSetGo, Anjana Reddy of Universal Sportsbiz and Vidhi Shanghvi of Sun Pharma are the youngest on the list.
31 per cent of the women on the Kotak Wealth Hurun – Leading Wealthy Women List 2020 are self made. Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw is the richest self-made woman on the list followed by Radha Vembu of Zoho.
19 women from this list also feature in the Hurun India Rich List 2020, and six women have made it to the Hurun Global Rich List 2020.
Six startup founders including Falguni Nayar (57) of Nykaa and Divya Gokulnath (34) of Byju’s (Think & Learn) have built their companies into unicorns.
Pharmaceuticals, Textiles and Apparel & Accessories sectors contributed the greatest number of entrants to the list followed by Healthcare and Financial Services.

Devita Saraf of Vu Technologies has a net worth of Rs1,730 crore and ranks 24th on the list.
Mira Kulkarni & family of Forest Essentials (Rs1,290 crore) ranks 35th.
Shalini Bhupal & Indira Krishna Reddy of TAJGVK Hotels & Resorts with a net-worth of Rs490 crore are 59th on the list.
Kanika Tekriwal of JetSetGo, ranks 72nd on the list with a net worth of Rs280 crore. She is followed by Anita Lal of GoodEarth (Rs.250 crore).
Fashion Designer Anita Dongre and her sister Meena Sehra both have a net worth of Rs160 crore each.
