Known for its brilliantly multi-faceted crystals, Swarovski is a name synonymous with an elite kind of elegance. Its new collection, though speaks of a crystal lifestyle for one and all. Creative Director Giovanna Engelbert, who joined the company last year has launched her first collection for the jewellery brand. The hyper-expressive and versatile collection is reflective of the post-pandemic glamour that is dominating the fashion world.
The concept behind the collection is an imaginary universe called Wonderlab, where only your dreams are the limit. “The Wonderlab is where science and magic meet, where extra and elegance collide, it is a feeling of wonder that everyone should experience as we invite them into our new world at Swarovski” says Engelbert of the collection.
The Austrian crystal-producer takes inspiration from the brand’s founder Daniel Swarovski’s original technical drawings. The pieces from “Collection I” of Wonderlab are manifestations of the fundamental properties of crystal. The collection seems plucked from what Giovanna calls a “Mathemagical Garden”, with an array of necklaces, earrings, rings, bracelets, and body jewellery. A non-traditional approach to scale, cut and colour creates chunky and maximalist jewellery collection, perfect to indulge in.
“Looking at Daniel Swarovski’s first drawings was an absolute inspiration, discovering the magic of his early inventions and understanding the power of his dream to create something the world had never seen.” says Engelbert.
“We are excited to add a new chapter to this tremendous success story by lifting Swarovski’s centre of gravity to accessible luxury and by truly becoming a crystal lifestyle”, says Swarovski CEO Robert Buchbauer.
The highlights of the collection include rainbow toned cocktail Swarovski Curiosa ring, which resembles Cinderella’s fairytale carriage with its tones of blue.
The Harmonia necklace is a floating sea of stones, oversized cushion cut crystals in a suspended setting, giving that illusion.
The Dulcis neon green ring brings a touch of modern pop art to the collection, with its candy-hued playful design.
The Gema earrings in earth tones of brown and reds, accentuated by a touch of pink are a boldly random accumulation of gems, that turn into a kaleidoscope of colours with a just a slight shake of the head.
The collection is set to arrive in Swarovski’s new octagonal jewellery box, in an ode to the multi-faceted crystal. Check out the entire collection here.
