Owner, Ophelia, CosyBox, and Toyroom A visionary, entrepreneur, avid traveller and restaurateur Shikha Begwani started her journey in the field of hospitality with the much-renowned Mediterranean and Turkish restaurant Ophelia in a five-star hotel in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. Proud owner of the Indian master franchise of Toy Room Club Delhi and Toy Room Club in Mumbai, she along with her husband recently joined hands with Jean Bernard to bring Cosy Box, the official food partner of the Cannes film festival, all the way to Delhi. She loves her collection of Zimmermann dresses. “I have bought something from every collection they launched & each piece I have is extremely special to me. “ Shikha savours a glass of red wine when she’s at her favourite dining hub, San Gimignano at Imperial New Delhi, and Mamai Cale Sochi in Russia. However, a car that’s on her bucket list is the Maserati and her most precious jewellery piece is a Colombian Emerald solitaire necklace. She believes in consistency and says, “always pursue your passion fearlessly everyday and you will see visible growth in future.” “My greatest inspiration is to live by love, compassion and gratitude.” Shikha Begwani Managing Director, Sarita Handa One of India’s celebrated lifestyle brands, Sarita Handa founded her eponymous brand in 1992. Initially built as a small store, solely operating in Tughlaqabad, New Delhi, Sarita Handa today is among the top luxury home and retail brands both in the country. A creative history student, Handa started her label with nothing but her love for textiles and zeal to make a mark. Being an army officer’s wife, travelling was constantly on the charts for Handa, who was subjected to novice experiences and cultures native to different states of India. Her label uses the old-school art of Indianneedlework extensively, translating it into spectacular craft-intensive collections with distinct motifs like geometry, floral patterns, and paisley work in a palette of vibrant hues, bold prints and intricate embroidery. Handa is deeply committed to reinventing heritage techniques. For a meal outside, she prefers Bukhara in ITC Maurya, Indian Accent or Oberoi restaurants in India. Her greatest inspiration is “My collection of saris; a visual representation of India’s cultural wealth of craft, textiles and heritage. “Luxury to me is simplicity, understated, relaxing and comfortable.” Sarita Handa 54 | | 55
