Jitendra Virwani Chairman and MD, Embassy Group T he property czar joined his father’s construction company at 19 years of age. A couple of years later in 1993, he ventured out on his own and formed a construction firm to develop office spaces which eventually diversified and became the Embassy Group. It was in the early 2000s that his future first vision brought to India the idea of world-class grade-A office spaces, grade-A office parks and more. Transforming the Indian real estate sector and economy, Jitendra Virwani is the mastermind behind India’s Embassy Group’s mixed portfolio of more than 62 million sq ft developed across the country including residential, commercial, retail, hospitality and industrial warehouse verticals. In August 2020, Virwani merged two of Embassy Group’s entities with Sameer Gehlaut’s Indiabulls Real Estate Ltd. The company has 12 million sq. ft. of residential properties under its belt which include the luxurious Embassy Boulevard, Four Seasons Private Residences and Embassy Lake Terraces. She channelled her love for collecting artefacts at an early age of four, with a coin album and a stamp book. Today, she observes how the Indian art market is gaining ground and what our culture budget should not overlook. Being creative, she spends her spare time in the kitchen. “I’ve just completed a course of Chef’s Skills from the Leiths School of Food and Wine in London so while my habits aren’t very unique, what I eat is very important to me,” she adds. For leisure, Singh enjoys travelling to a select few places. Some of her favourites include Chandigarh for its space, architecture, and beautiful homes; London for its food, and the memories of college days; Paris for its museums, food, buildings, and Istanbul for the incredible combination of east and west, its culture, setting. And if she had her way, her favourite ride — any time of the day or night would be a Boeing 777er. “Be the best you can be in your area of choice.
