Heard of Velaterapia?  It’s the Brazilian practice of burning off your split ends. You heard that right! Victoria’s Secret models Lais Ribeiro and Alessandra Ambrosio are few of the few celebs known to get candle therapy for their lustrous locks. The technique involves twisting the hair in small sections and burning the fly away strands over a naked flame.

In November 2020, Eva Mendes took to Instagram to post a selfie of herself getting a scary-looking procedure done! Turns out it’s a treatment called mono threading. Mendes’ doctor claims mono threads activate collagen synthesis, which produces a gradual skin thickening, skin tightening and rejuvenation effect. The stimulated collagen production prevents a saggy neck. Saggy neck or not, would you give this a go?

Of all bizarre foods for better skin, Shailene Woodley’s choice takes the clayOn David Letterman’s late-night show, the actor admits that she eats a teaspoon of clay to cleanse her body. Woodley says that clay “binds to other materials in your body and helps your body excrete those materials that aren’t necessarily the best for you.”

Gwyneth Paltrow could top the list of celebrities who love experimenting with beauty treatments. Her beauty habits can be considered quite unusual, from the bee sting therapy that she underwent to combat inflammation to cupping, the practice of using heated cups to create a suction effect and help with pain, blood flow, relaxation. In an article on her website, Goop, Paltrow recommends an ‘infrared and mugwort’ vagina steam which claims to balance pH levels. It’s safe to say, you should consult a doctor before aping any of this celeb’s beauty secrets.  
Kim Kardashian  

The facial that shot to fame due to celebrity Kim Kardashian has to make it on this list. Known to try out several different treatments for that beautiful glow, Kardashian tried the treatment back in 2013. For vampire facial, blood is drawn from your arm, from which the platelets are separated, and injected back into the skin along with a hyaluronic acid filler. Kardashian also claims that rubbing her body with oil before exercising helps her cellulite. 
Demi Moore

In 2008 Demi Moore revealed that in Austria she experienced leech therapy as part of a complete cleanse. “It detoxifies your blood and they have a little enzyme that when they’re biting down on you, gets released into your blood and generally you bleed for quite a bit,” Moore told David Letterman on his late-night television show. The medically trained leeches are effective at increasing blood circulation and breaking up blood clots.  
Victoria Beckham

Victoria Beckham is said to be a fan of the traditional Japanese geisha facial, one that is widely known to be made up of bird excrement. The nightingale droppings used are reportedly sanitised via ultraviolet light and transformed into a powder that is used to boost the skin—brightening, healing, and restoring its natural glow. This treatment is a favourite of actor Tom Cruise as well.

Victoria’s Secret Angel Stella Maxwell shared an image of her “amazing” experience at Serpentessa, a spa that offers snake massages. The supposedly relaxing treatment involves non-venomous boa constrictors to slither over one’s body. Anyone else feeling a crawling sensation right about now?
