Amit Aggarwal Creative Director, Amit Aggarwal A graduate of the prestigious National Institute of Fashion Technology, Amit Aggarwal trained with some of the best design houses in the world, until he started his eponymous label in 2012. In that same year, his work was exhibited at the Arken Museum in Copenhagen as an exhibit for the future of Art and Fashion till January 2013. He was also invited by TED in India for a talk on fashion, its future, and his journey so far in 2012. After a series of showcases in Paris and India, Aggarwal started diffusion line under AM.IT, an eclectic mix of organic and fabricated textiles with contemporary styling. This ready to wear label aims to explore traditional weaving methods and printing textile arts from the Indian subcontinent. She’s been elected as a board member of the premier National Institute of Fashion Technology and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)’s core group on luxury. Anavila has built her brand from one weaver to a full-fledged business supporting over two-hundred, fully employed weavers and craftsmen. As a brand, Anavila has boldly ventured into a road less travelled by being a linen loyalist. It took her several months to develop her first handwoven linen saris with inimitable fluidity, to give Indian fashion a completely new product category. The unique linens and linen-blends are structured for comfort and luxury in au naturel colours and easy silhouettes. The brand remains firmly grounded to using indigenous textile, technique and crafts to collections that reflect India’s cultural history. “I believe in being one with the environment.” Anavila has been awarded the Vogue India Fashion Fund’s Sari Award (2016), FICCI FLO for innovative design (2016), Femina Women Jury Award for Arts and Design (2017) and recently the Condé Nast Traveller and Forest Essentials Excellence Award (2018).
